hallway bathroom: where we started
The hallway bathroom is my designated bathroom in this house. We have a three+ bedroom, three bathroom house in a very 1970s layout. My husband chose the main bathroom as his space and I chose the hall bathroom. The decision was based on two things - the bathtub and the slightly larger vanity.
When we bought the house, here’s what things looked like:
Nothing about that space was salvageable. I lived with this for 6+ years until a moldy, broken tile finally got the best of me.
Once I chipped off that first tile, there was no going back. I ended up gutting the entire room. The only thing that stayed was the tub.
I found water damage and mold everywhere. I sent off for an asbestos test and thankfully, came back clear (in this room, at least). I was able to craigslist the old cabinets and sink. Someone came by in the middle of the night and took the toilet seat, but didn’t take the rest of the toilet. Bizarre, but I’m glad someone was able to use it.
Next up, rebuilding…
